Town of Woodstock Statement and Community Support Resources
The Town of Woodstock is deeply saddened by the tragic accident that occurred at Connell Park Raceway during the opening day of the harness racing season this past Saturday, June 14th. What began as a beautiful day of tradition and community gathering, quickly turned into an unimaginable tragedy which resulted in the heartbreaking loss of life a young child in attendance. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family, friends, and all those affected.
As longtime hosts of a harness racing track in New Brunswick, this event has touched our entire community in a profound way. In response, the Town is coordinating efforts with crisis intervention healthcare providers from the Province of New Brunswick to offer support services by a dedicated team of mental health professionals for those impacted.
More information on support services will be shared on the Town's website and social media pages as it becomes available.
If you need support now, anyone can call Community Addictions and Mental Health and schedule a session with a clinician, or the New Brunswick helpline for crisis services at 1-866-355-5550.
