PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Town of Woodstock intends to consider proposed By-Law No. 609, A By-Law Respecting Waste Collection and Disposal Within the Town of Woodstock.

Any person wishing to inspect the proposed by-law may do so by appointment at Woodstock Town Hall, 244 Connell Street, NB during regular office hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Friday except holidays. You may also view the by-law on the Town’s website at https://woodstocknb.ca/bylaws-policies

The deadline for submitting written objections/support to the Town Clerk shall be 12:00 p.m. on the date of the third reading, Tuesday, October 13th, 2026. Written objections/support may by mailed or delivered to Town Hall or e-mailed to the Clerk: clerk@woodstocknb.ca

First reading: Tuesday, September 8th
Second reading: Tuesday, September 22nd
Third, and final reading: Tuesday, October 13th

By-laws are, generally speaking, a set of rules and guidelines that residents must follow. Passed by council, by-laws are used to regulate, prohibit, or impose certain specific requirements. They are what enable a municipality like ours to operate safely, efficiently, and dependably.

By-laws are municipal statutes. The Local Governance Act authorizes municipalities to enact by-laws for municipal purposes.

A policy is defined as corporate direction that is formally adopted by Council resolution. Enacting policies provides a framework for decision making ensuring consistency throughout the municipality. The supporting legislation for such policy development is the Municipal Act. It specifically provides Council the authority to develop and evaluate the policies and programs of a municipality. The policies listed are a comprehensive list of Council approved policies currently in place.
