Public Notification: Elevated Manganese Levels in Municipal Water

The Town would like to advise our water users that some areas of our water distribution system are currently experiencing elevated levels of manganese, above the aesthetic objectives outlined in provincial water quality guidelines.

As a result, some residential and commercial users may notice discoloured water or mild staining on plumbing fixtures and laundry.

We understand that the presence of discolouration can be concerning and disruptive. Our Utility Department is aware of the situation and is actively working to manage the issue. In the coming days and weeks, crews will be conducting targeted manual backwashing and flushing of the system, as well as performing important maintenance work on the Mangazur Filtration System.

We recognize the inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate the patience and understanding of our residents and businesses. We ask that everyone follow the water conservation protocols that are now in place that will allow our Utility department to manage the necessary work. We also want to acknowledge and thank our dedicated Utility staff, who are doing their best to manage a complex system that is currently undergoing multiple upgrades and facing a number of operational challenges.

If you experience ongoing or severe issues, we encourage you to contact the Town Office or Utility Department directly so we can provide support or investigate further at utility@woodstocknb.ca or 1-506-325-4600.

We remain committed to delivering safe, high-quality water and will continue to provide updates as work progresses.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.
