Boil Order in effect: Houlton Street

Due to a Water Break, residents in the following areas can anticipate a water service interruption:

Affected area(s):Houlton Street from civic address 212 Houlton St. up to and including the Meduxnekeag Consolidated School. This also includes First Plymouth Road, Heatherington Court, and Ironwood Drive. Water service is expected to be restored at approximately 12 A.M. October 22, 2026

Once water service is restored, a Boil Water Advisory ordered by the Department of Health will take effect. Residents must boil water as directed below until the Department of Health lifts the advisory and the Town distributes further notice.

The boil order will be in effect until lifted by the Department of Health and another notice will be distributed indicating so.

DIRECTIONS:

  • During a boil water advisory, it is important that all water destined for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, making ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking and dental hygiene be held at a rolling boil for 1 minute.
  • Unless advised differently by the Department of Health, under most circumstances it is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes.
  • Adults, adolescents and older children may shower, bathe or wash using tap water but should avoid swallowing the water.
  • Toddlers and infants should be sponged bathed, and caregivers need to ensure no water is consumed or swallowed.
  • As a precaution, it is recommended to turn power to the hot water heater tanks off and to turn the water valve off supplying water to the heater tank prior to the water outage to prevent damage to electric heater elements.
