Public Notice - Boil Order in effect
The Town of Woodstock is currently responding to a water main break on Charles Street, between Charlotte Street and Phillips Drive.
Affected Streets: residents at 143 Charles Street, 190-200 Union Street and 200-225 Broadway extension areas can anticipate a Water Service interruption.
Impact: Residents may experience low water pressure or temporary water service interruption, a boil order is now in effect for residents in the area.
Directions:
- During a boil water advisory, it is important that all potable water destined for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, making ice cubes, washing fruits & vegetables, cooking and dental hygiene be held at a rolling boil for 1 minute.
- Water can be boiled in a pot or kettle on a stove, in an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off or in a microwave oven. If water is boiled in a microwave, it is advisable to include a wooden or plastic stir stick in the container to diffuse the formation of superheated water.
- Adults, adolescents and older children may shower, bathe or wash using tap water but should avoid swallowing the water. Toddlers and infants should be sponged bathed, and caregivers need to ensure no water is drunk or swallowed. Dishes and laundry may be washed in tap water, either by hand or by machine.
- It is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes. As a precaution, it is recommended to turn power to the water tanks off to prevent damage to electric heater elements or turn the water valve off suppling water to the water heater prior to the water outage.
