The Town of Woodstock is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to fill the full-time permanent position of Recreation Program Coordinator within the Recreation Department. This role is based at the AYR Motor Centre (AMC), a progressive, multi-purpose recreation facility that serves as a hub for health, wellness, sport, and community engagement.

 

The AYR Motor Centre features a wide range of amenities, including an indoor aquatic facility with a five-lane, 25-metre pool and tot pool area, an indoor ice surface, a three-court field house, a suspended walking track, the Tim Hortons Wellness Centre, five multi-purpose meeting rooms, licensed bar facilities, and a licensed after-school daycare program.

 

In addition to the AYR Motor Centre, the Town operates a licensed preschool daycare and manages a variety of recreational and community assets throughout Woodstock. These include five baseball fields, six playgrounds, picnic shelters, a splash pad, accessible washroom facilities, a mini soccer field, two beach volleyball courts, the McKinley Memorial Tennis Courts, a waterfront marina, the McCain Community Theatre, and the Bobby Vail Community Outdoor Rink.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of a Recreation or Sport Management/Kinesiology post secondary program with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in program planning and development or equivalent combination of education and/or experience (ideally with exposure to an aquatic facility)
  • A valid, unrestricted Class 5 driver’s licence with clean abstract (willingness to obtain a Class 4 for occasional operation of the Community Van for programming needs is required)
  • Demonstrated active lifestyle with an awareness and interest in trends of recreation and physical activity
  • The ability to stand and/or walk for 8-hour days; and does not shy away from activities in all weather conditions
  • Standard or Emergency First Aid Training & CPR is an asset
  • Experience with customer service with seniors, special needs adults and children, youth and recreation & health
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn and effectively use recreation management and registration software.
  • Experience working with Canva, including flyers, brochures, social media graphics, and presentations considered an asset.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • The Recreation Coordinator will be primarily responsible to support programs and activities operating out of the AYR Motor Centre, as well as plans to maximize the use of and services offered through all of Woodstock’s recreational and community assets. Duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervision and performance management of field house staff (including summer students)
  • Coordinate training and certification for the recreation team
  • Prepare weekly schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads and events
  • Support planning and execution of recreational programming and community services; including facilitation and marketing of recreation programs and events for all sectors
  • Assist with planning and management of recreation programs and services, help effectively monitor costs and determine budgetary needs
  • Monitor field house area to identify issues or maintenance requirements
  • Implementation and enforcement of policies
  • Create or update any applicable Standard Operating Procedures for all day-to-day functions
  • Other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Experience planning, coordinating, and delivering recreation, sport, wellness, community, or special event programs.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build positive relationships with participants, volunteers, community groups, and staff.
  • Creative and innovative thinking with a passion for developing engaging programs that meet diverse community needs.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive recreational experiences.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and recreation registration or facility booking software.
  • Knowledge of risk management, program evaluation, and best practices in recreation programming.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence and access to reliable transportation.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
