PARKS & RECREATION MAINTENANCE
Position Type: Summer Student (May/June– Late August)
Department: Recreation and Community Services
Reports To: Facilities Supervisor
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week – Monday – Friday (occasional evenings/weekends may be required)
Wage Range: $15.90 - $18.50/hour, depending on experience
The Recreation Department is seeking a motivated and dependable Summer Students for Parks & Recreation Maintenance to assist with the maintenance and upkeep of municipal recreation facilities, parks, fields, and green spaces during the summer season.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Mowing, trimming, and edging lawns at recreation sites and parks
- Maintenance of sports fields, playgrounds, and landscaped areas
- Litter collection and general grounds cleanup
- Assist with planting, weeding, and flower bed maintenance
- Operate hand tools and small equipment (training provided)
- Support Recreation staff with daily maintenance activities
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in high school, college, or university
- Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid driver’s licence considered an asset (if applicable)
- Previous landscaping or outdoor maintenance experience is an asset, but not required
