GENERAL LABOURER - PUBLIC WORKS & UTILITY
Position Type: Summer Student (May/June– Late August)
Department: Public Works & Utility
Reports To: Director of Public Works
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week – Monday – Friday
Wage Range: $15.90 - $18.50/hour, depending on experience
The Public Works Department is seeking a reliable and energetic Summer Students for Landscape Maintenance to assist with the care and maintenance of municipal parks, green spaces, and facilities throughout the summer season.
Key Responsibilities
- Grass cutting, trimming, and edging
- Flower bed maintenance, planting, and weeding
- Litter collection and general grounds cleanup
- Assist with operation of hand tools and small equipment (training provided)
- Support Public Works staff with daily landscaping and maintenance tasks
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedure
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in high school, college, or university
- Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Valid driver’s licence considered an asset (if applicable)
- Previous landscaping or outdoor work experience is an asset, but not required
